Teaching Statement
As an educator, I create an environment that fosters openness, community, and support. My classes are student-centered. I invest in the growth and development of students as individuals.
Students will have the space to express themselves through movement explorations. These explorations are prompted by using imagery, like feeling the difference between moving like a lava lamp and moving like a stick man.
I teach life skills that students can utilize outside of dance class, like collaboration, problem solving, and communication skills. Even if they never take another dance class, students will take with them something that is applicable to their lives outside of dance.
Workshop Description
Title: Introduction to Partnering and Group Work
Level: This workshop is intended for dancers who are new to dance improvisation.
In this two-hour workshop, we will explore partner and group improvisation through ensemble thinking and contact improvisation. This will be an entry point to working, moving, and connecting with others. We will begin by working with solo scores, before building into partner and group exercises.
